What is an LLM API gateway?

Can I call it from my own code?

Yes. Wakato's AI Gateway is OpenAI-compatible, so existing code and tools work by pointing them at the gateway address with a Wakato space API key. Usage is billed to that space's wallet.

How is it priced?

Per call, from your Wakato wallet, with no separate subscription for the gateway. Text is charged by tokens, and images, video and voice by what each generation uses, and every call says which agent, app or key made it.

Can I limit which models are used?

Yes. Each Wakato space can allow every model or only the ones you pick, and an agent asks before using one the space hasn't allowed. Each agent's spending cap applies to its gateway calls too.

Can the same key search the web or find leads?

What happens if a provider is down?

Where a model has more than one route, Wakato's gateway tries another, and when none answers it returns a plain error instead of the provider's message. A route that failed is tried again after a short pause.
